I have been practicing Holistic Management since 1993 and teaching holistic management to a wide variety of audiences since 1995. I work with Native Americans,primarily Navajo,new and beginning farmers,local food systems and non-profits. Most of the people I work with are involved family based agricultural operations,both farming and ranching. I have experience working in natural resource management,community and organizational development,business planning and enterprise development,marketing,facilitation and consensus building,land health and biological monitoring,irrigation water management,rare breed conservation. I have been a lifelong farmer with experience raising sheep,beef,poultry,fruits and vegetables,grass-fed production,pasture and hay. I have a degree in Natural Resource Management and Soil Science from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. I was a member of Board of Directors of Colorado Branch for Holistic Management for 8 years. I was the mentor for the 2003-2005 Midwest Certified Educator program working with 20 trainees from US,Australia and Spain. I was a conservationist with USDA-NRCS for seven years and also worked for the USDI-BOR,USDA-Forest Service,USDI-BLM and USDI-National Park Service.
In reviewing my work history over the past 22 years I have provided training,information,consulting,outreach and educational opportunities to over 1500 people. I provide in-person and distance learning in the practice of Holistic Management to individuals and groups. I have taught HM over the telephone to groups and individuals for the past 12 years. I work with non-profits such as Heifer International to deliver Holistic Management Training to their projects. I work with government agencies such as the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Navajo Tribal Extension. I work with community groups and organizations such as the SW Ag Roundtable and Cattleman’s Association. I bring Holistic Management in an indirect manner into my business advisory work with SBDC. I am very involved with the conservation of the Navajo Churro Sheep and work frequently with fellow producers to implement holistic approaches. I am president of the Four Corners Chapter of the Farmers Union. I am currently providing mentoring and training with HMI distance learning program.
