David West Station
David West Station is an 11,000 acre ranch in Ozona Texas.
“When we started managing West Ranch the land had been rested for 15 years and had lots of bare ground and mature capping. This country is hard and rough, but under Holistic Management® practices, the land responded. We grew lots of grass and eventually increased our stocking rate by 67%.” – Joe Maddox, Ranch Manager
HMI provided turn-key, on-site operational management of the 11,000 acre David West Station in Ozona, Texas, while the estate was in probate. HMI was responsible for catching up 25 years of deferred maintenance, including construction of fencing and water sites, facility upgrades and significant increases in livestock stocking rates. The operation is a multi-species with sheep and cattle. Subsequent to settlement of the estate, HMI has continued to operate the ranch as a combination working livestock operation and learning site.
