There is a really great article by Robert Fears in the February 2012 issue of the Cattleman magazine, which is published by the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. The article details a couple of ranches that are manged holistically in Texas. Despite record drought in the west and southwest, Forrest Armke of the Ford Ranch near Brady, Texas had knee-high little bluestem grass on his pastures this fall. Emry Bridwell and Deborah Clark manage a ranch near Henrietta, Texas and with Holistic Management financial planning, they know on any given day how much money they have in each herd. When market prices are high enough to meet their profit goals, they hedge or contract for future delivery. Be sure to read the full article.... A Whole View by Robert Fears. Cattleman Magazine
