Chosen Change

Listen to HMI Certified Educator Helen Lewis speak about the power of Holistic Management on the Speak out Loud - Stories of Strength from the Southern Downs podcast. In the podcast Helen shares how Holistic Management has helped them improve land health on the family farm as well as mitigate the challenges that drought, wildfire, and floods have had in their area. She also talks about the power of "chosen change", the ability to make decisions on what you can control, instead of becoming more stressed by focusing on what you can't control.

Helen and her husband operate Picot Farms in Warwick, Queensland, Australia, which is a 4th generation farm. They've been managing regeneratively since 2000 and holistically since 2012. They implement a grazing plan and direct market their beef to families. They are also trying Natural Sequence Farming as well as no-till farming with no synthetic fertilizers or chemicals. With these practices they have 100% ground cover and have been able to see the difference their management has made in the water course through their property. Natural seeps and springs are flowing again.

Helen also runs a business called Decision Design Hub where she teaches people from all walks of life online how to improve their decision-making with Holistic Management, reducing one's circle of concern and increasing one's circle of influence.
