Farm Service Agency County Committees Create Change

The Farm Service Agency (FSA) County Committees are now accepting nominations for new committee members. These committees are teams of individually-elected farmers or ranchers who have experience with FSA programs. Committee members make decisions about FSA programs and outreach at a local level during their three-year term. FSA specifically encourages farmers and ranchers from underrepresented groups—beginning farmers, farmers of color, indigenous farmers, and women—to run for county committees. Given all the FSA programs that support agricultural growth and transition of farms and ranches, being involved in these committees are a great way to meaningfully engage and connect with your agricultural community. The nomination period will be open through the end of July. To learn more about this opportunity read The National Young Farmer's Coalition blog post about FSA County Committees here. You can learn more about joining your county committee here. HMI also provides borrower training for FSA borrowers in 14 states. To learn more about which training programs apply, click here. If you are interested in having HMI provide FSA Borrower Training in your state, have your FSA loan officer contact us at hmi@holisticmanagement.org.
