Watching Chopped - one
of my favorite shows on the Food Network, I've been struck lately by the number of chefs on the show that are strong advocates of fresh, local, nutrient-dense food. But it's not only Chopped. It seems that everywhere I turn, I'm reading yet another article about the resurgence of the small, family owned farm or ranch, and the benefits of regenerative agriculture. As more people begin to turn to their local farmer or rancher to be the main source of their food supply, and as more farmers and ranchers themselves make the decision to change their management practices in order to offer fresh food grown without the use of pesticides and antibiotics, I'm more excited about the practice of Holistic Management than ever before. Remember that old Barbara Mandrell song ; I Was Country Before Country Was Cool? Well, Holistic Management has been a strong advocate for fresh, local, healthy food before it was cool. Way before it was cool; like 32 years. It's encouraging to see that so many producers and consumers alike are beginning to realize the benefits of regenerative agriculture. And as 2017 begins, and we continue our mission to 'educate people in regenerative agriculture for healthy lands and thriving communities,' we hope that you can join us somewhere along the way. Meet our practitioners, take a class, or simply support our programming efforts that are taking place around the world. To all of you from all of us at HMI, have a safe, joyous, and regenerative 2017!
