Lawmakers Recognize the Benefits of Regenerative Agriculture

At HMI, we’ve watched as

the demand for healthy, local, nutrient-dense food has grown in the last few years.  Today, demand is higher than ever before, with both food producers and food distributors working hard to meet that demand, which is good for all of us. Why? Because regenerative agriculture is focused on improving soil health through increased soil carbon, which feeds the soil life below, a welcome practice after years of industrial agriculture has been spent destroying soil by systematically removing much of the organic minerals in the soil, reducing fertility in the process. Regenerative agriculture is about growing and feeding soil life, which in turn feeds us all. Along with producing fresh, local, healthy food, regenerative agricultural practices help to create soils that are more resilient and better able to handle the forces of nature such as prolonged droughts and floods.  This is true whether farming or ranching, large scale or small scale. Today, we're happy to see that it's not only farmers and ranchers that are acknowledging the benefits of regenerative agriculture - lawmakers are beginning to recognize it as well, as noted in this article in Revitalization News.  Let’s hope more get on board and begin to support regenerative agriculture practices and the many benefits it provides all of us, whether we farm or ranch or not.
