Regenerative Agriculture and Children

The new year brings thoughts of New Year's resolutions and how we can make the world a better place for our children. Educating the next generation on how nature functions and how regenerative agriculture helps the environment and grows healthy food can be fun for all with a host of  children's books that are now on the market. One of them is Joel and Rachel Salatin's Patrick's Great Grass Adventure with Greg the Grass Farmer which chronicles the story of Patrick the pidgeon who follows Greg from the farmer's market in the city back to Greg's farm where Patrick learns about grass, bugs, and livestock. The concept behind the book was to help anyone who has ever seen a pidgeon to also be able to learn with Patrick why regenerative agriculture is good for the plants, animals, and people. To order Patrick's Great Grass Adventure visit the Polyface Farm website. The video from Virginia Farming gives you more on the back story behind Patrick's Great Grass Adventure. Foodtank  also listed 25 children's book that engage children in learning more about food and agriculture. If you're wondering what to do with those gift cards you got over the holidays, there's a number of great books out there including: Anywhere Farm (a container gardening book) to Before We Eat: From Farm to Table(chronicling the process of agriculture) to Compost Stew: An A to Z Recipe for the Earth to It's Milking Time about a girl on a dairy farm. If you are interested in engaging your children in learning how to make value-based decisions, At Home with Holistic Management: Creating a Life of Meaning is a workbook for the whole family to develop a holistic goal. Filled with exercises that invite children to consider what is important to them as well as provide an opportunity for parents to discuss with children the values they hold, this book has been used by thousands of families to learn how to make better decisions. A Season of Giving

At this time of the year, we often find ourselves counting our blessings while appreciating the gifts that we’ve been given. Here at Holistic Management International, we’re no different. Here are just a few of the gifts that we’re grateful for:

The Gift of Healthy Land

Your gifts have put us on track to reach our 20/20 vision of 20 million additional acres of healthy land by the year 2020.

The Gift of Healthy Food

We have seen the Holistic Management community grow, supporting the work of creating healthy lands while producing the nutritious food that will feed communities across the globe.

The Gift of Knowledge

Your generous gifts have also allowed us to provide over $50,000 worth of scholarships since 2014.

Will you help us train more farmers and ranchers in regenerative agriculture? Together, we can change the world one farm and ranch at a time!

Thank you for your support, now and always.
