Our friends at TomKat Ranch partnered with California FarmLink to publish a new resource for landowners and the grazing community to increase the transition of more land to regenerative practices called Guide to Regenerative Grazing Leases: Opportunities for Resilience.
Given that nearly 30% of grazing land is leased in the U.S., the potential to regenerate those lands through more effective leasing is critical. Having this kind of resource that the guide provides allows both landowners and graziers to improve the communication necessary to create leases that incentivize good practices.
The guide includes a variety of issues discussed from the context of numerous entities including land trusts and includes topics like:
Writing, Negotiating and Maintaining the Lease
Rent and Rent Payments
Communication and Dispute Resolution
Creating an Agricultural Management Plan (AMP)
Acknowledging Land and Power
Passing Down the Ranch
Thanks to the folks at TomKat Ranch and California Farmlink for developing and sharing this resource.
