The Conscious Farmer

derek-and-kirrily

Holistic Management International board member Kirrily Blomfield and her husband Derek were recently profiled in The Weekly Times. Owners of The Conscious Farmer, a family owned farm on the Liverpool Plains of NSW in Australia, the Blomfields use Holistic Management grazing principles, which help with rainfall infiltration and greater biodiversity. The Conscious Farmer's grass fed beef contains no GMO's, no antibiotics, no growth hormones, no chemicals or pesticides and no preservatives.

“We consider the impact of every decision we make,” Derek said. “We think consciously about the soils and water of our farm and the wider environment.”

The Blomfields, who were named the 2014 NSW Farmer of the Year by the Department of Primary Industries, were introduced to Holistic Management in 2001. Derek and his father Sandy, who is still a part of the operation, took part in an eight-day Holistic Management training course, and began converting their conventional operation to Holistic Management shortly thereafter.
