Virginia Area Program Continues to Produce Results

The farmers enrolled in HMI's  Future Farms & Ranches: Upper Piedmont year-long program in Virginia are well on their way to becoming seasoned Holistic Management practitioners. So far, HMI has trained 32 farmers and ranchers for a total of 42 hours of training per person and we are providing ongoing mentoring to these producers over the next 4 months.  So far, the group learned the basics of....

  • Holistic Management Decision Making

  • Holistic Grazing Planning

  • Holistic Financial Planning

  • Holistic Biological Monitoring

  • Holistic Land planning

The learning sessions  include  place-based workshops as well as  online distance learning. Particularly successful was our Holistic Financial Planning course taught by Holistic Management Certified Educator, Seth Wilner.  Frank Aragona, HMI's Director of Programs, says, " Training in financial planning is of particular importance to farmers and ranchers, because successful financial managers can greatly improve farm sustainability very quickly."  Here's a chart documenting the dramatic improvement in the participant's knowledge of Holistic Financial Planning.
