Will Harris, owner of White Oak Pastures and HMI Advisory Board member, has recently been making news between his episode on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast and calling out Bill Gates on buying up farmland. Will is not one to mince words and his frustration with Gates' purchasing of farmland is clearly because of Gates' focus on technology as the solution to climate problems and his investment in plant-based protein. Likewise when he talks to Joe Rogan, Will demonstrates how someone with 67 years of experience in agriculture cannot only regenerate the land, but create a thriving business that has created significant positive economic impact in the town of Bluffton and the county.
While another blog on the White Oak Pasture's (WOP) website is a little older, it too paints a clear picture of WOP's regenerative land management and how they can transform a corn field that has less than 1% organic matter to pasture with over 5% organic matter. The photo essay is well worth a look.
For more inspiration, watch One Hundred Thousand Beating Hearts from Peter Byck to appreciate the risks that Will has taken to transform his farm and the county in which it resides and how it is paying off for WOP and for the community.
