Following the philosophy of Bud and Eunice Williams, Cattle Up led by Dawn Hnatow, Holistic Management International, and Dixon Water Foundation, are hosting a unique 3-day workshop to help farmers and ranchers gain knowledge and hands-on experience. Keeping livestock in a healthy mental state, with reduced stress in handling, translates into a variety of positive results including easier gathers, less sickness, improved weight gains, efficient corral work, and happier handlers.

The workshop is being hosted by Graze the Prairie in Winfield, KS, a regenerative cattle and sheep operation owned by Linda & Keith Long. Participants will explore Holistic Management principles, grazing planning, and drought resilience strategies, while also gaining practical experience in ecological monitoring, forage measurement, and adaptive grazing techniques.

Learn essential Holistic Planned Grazing principles and practices to enhance land health and productivity. This 7-week course covers steps to analyze and address grazing considerations, determine forage inventory, animal needs, and grazing periods. You’ll also learn to develop and communicate a written grazing plan. Plan for 2-4 hours each week for webinars and assignments.

Learn how to work on your business, not just in your business. This step-by-step financial planning approach will help you understand the big picture view, plan for profit, control costs, and make critical production decisions based on a  clear analysis of your different enterprises. You will develop a financial plan for improved financial decisions on both annual budgets and long-term investments. You should plan on about 2 – 4 hours each week to participate in the webinars and complete the assignments.
