Scholarships For Farmers and Ranchers

As a non-profit we rely on the generosity of many people and organizations to help move us toward our mission.  We are so appreciative of the individual donors, foundations, and business owners who have generously given to our organization over the years and helped us reach so many farmers and ranchers. One area of need we have right now is our scholarship fund.  Funded solely by donors, the scholarship fund works to pay for training for those that are unable to pay in full for that training.  In 2016, we provided over 100 farmers and ranchers with the funds they needed to pay for classes.  However, scholarship funds distributed in 2016 totaled over $20,000, nearly depleting our reserves, and we found ourselves in the uncomfortable position of having to turn people away. While all of us are not farmers and ranchers, we do all eat.  And we all have a vested interest in ensuring that our food is produced without chemicals and hormones; that the soil that our food is grown in is healthy and nutrient-dense, and that our local farmers and ranchers are able to continue to supply our local farmer’s market and grocery stores with healthy, locally grown fruits, vegetables, and meats. Please take a few minutes to read about HMI’s Scholarship Fund, or learn a bit about some of our scholarship recipients.  And if you find yourself with a few extra dollars at the end of the month, please consider a donation to our scholarship fund.  If you're a farmer or rancher looking to take a class and would like to apply for a scholarship, the application can be found here. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Get the Latest News!
