A blog, written by Scott Morrison from The Nature Conservancy addresses a very important question that we deal with every day: ‘What’s in it for me?’ At HMI, our programs help communities grow and thrive by educating family farmers and ranchers in regenerative agricultural practices that empower them. As a farmer or a rancher, that premise may intrigue you. But as a consumer, you may be asking why you should care. ‘What’s in it for me?’
The quick answer is healthier food, improved wildlife habitats, and a cleaner, more sustainable environment. The much longer answer is that Holistic Management® helps farmers and ranchers produce fresher, healthier foods with fewer preservatives. Holistic Management also helps heal soil that has been damaged from overuse and pesticides. In turn, that healed soil helps in removing more CO2 from the environment, increases water absorption, (key in drought-stricken areas), and helps to create more sustainable communities.
Like it or not, if you eat food, you’re part of the agricultural ecosystem.
Why not help to make it a better one?
